So, mother tantra and father tantra, both can bring you to Enlightenment, but they focus on different types of afflictions to be converted. Now, within those so-called hidden tantras in which the fourth initiation is hidden, you have different systems: you have mother tantra (ma-rgyud); you have father tantra (pha-rgyud).
